To prevent illness, AnoKath TW 1 Liter water treatment improves water quality. When it comes to the risk of bacterial contamination in public, commercial, private, and rented buildings, Legionella bacteria are usually the culprit. These rod-shaped bacteria live in water. They do not form spores but instead penetrate single-celled organisms (amoebae) to reproduce, destroying them in the process. For Legionella to survive, the water temperature must be between 5°C and 55°C. Water temperature plays a crucial role in their reproduction.
Up to 20 °C: very slow reproduction
From 20 °C: increasing reproduction rate
30 °C to 45 °C: optimal propagation conditions
Above 50 °C: hardly any reproduction
From 60 °C: Legionella bacteria are killed.
Legionella bacteria primarily inhabit lakes and ponds. These harmful bacteria enter the municipal water supply and building drinking water pipes via groundwater. They cannot survive in buildings with on-site water treatment systems.
What makes Legionella so dangerous?
Stagnant water poses an increased risk of Legionella growth because of the lack of continuous flow. The pH value indicates whether a solution is alkaline (pH 7.1-14), neutral (pH 7), or acidic (pH 1-6.9). In healthy animals, blood, lymph, connective tissue, and a large part of the small intestine are alkaline. The stomach, large intestine, and vagina have a slightly acidic environment.
In small animals, the pH value of the urine can be determined. To do this, hold a pH test strip in the fresh urine and after 20 seconds compare the result with the enclosed color chart. In dogs and cats, the healthy urine pH value is 6.5. For horses, place a fresh manure pellet with an equal amount of distilled water in a sterilized glass jar with a lid, seal and shake, immerse a pH test strip after one minute and compare the result after 20 seconds. In horses, the healthy pH value in a fecal sample is 6.5.
